Job SummaryThe Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing invasive procedures within IR, CT, and Ultrasound modalities. This role includes administering moderate sedation, monitoring patient status throughout procedures, and collaborating closely with radiologists and technologists to ensure safe and efficient delivery of care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in IR, CT, and Ultrasound settings.
- Administer moderate sedation per protocol and monitor patient response throughout procedures.
- Perform pre-, intra-, and post-procedural assessments and documentation.
- Maintain sterile technique and support procedural setup and recovery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Respond to emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures and post-care expectations.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist with care coordination of outpatient procedures, including facilitation of outpatient clinic visits (pre-procedure consults and post-procedure follow ups).
This position is an integral part of the Interventional Radiology on-call team and requires participation in call rotation to support emergency procedures outside of regular business hours.
QualificationsCurrent RN license to practice in NC (NC license or multi-state (compact) license). BSN preferred; professional specialty nursing certification preferred. Meets general hospital and departmental orientation and competency requirements. BLS, ACLS, and PALS required. If new hires do not have current certifications, they may obtain ACLS and PALS during departmental orientation as part of onboarding. Critical care or procedural nursing experience preferred.
Must possess strong clinical assessment skills and be able to respond to emergent situations. Must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. One year traveler experience preferred. Cannot be a Full Time or Part Time Caro Mont Employee.
