Overview
FMG Repair Services (FMGRS) is seeking a motivated MET Technician to join the busy workshop in Gateshead. The role focuses on developing technical skills, problem-solving ability and attention to detail in vehicle repair, with a hands-on training pathway to become a qualified specialist employee.
Responsibilities- Detect and diagnose vehicle faults including simple electrical faults
- Remove and fit non-structural body panels
- Remove and re-install mechanical, electrical and trim components
- Carry out cosmetic panel alignment
- Remove, refit and test cooling system components
- Undertake supervised development of job skills and apply technical knowledge
- Adhere to housekeeping and Health and Safety regulations and policies
- Undertake tasks as required and progress in skill development
- Maintain a right-first-time approach for repairs
- Ensure all repairs comply with BS10125 and that vehicles meet safety standards on return to customers
- Ensure jobs are completed to pre-accident condition in line with approved repair methodologies and manufacturers standards within estimated times
- Maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail
- Follow company processes and standard operating procedures
- Essential - GCSE Maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
- Essential - GCSE English (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
- Course:
Vehicle damage mechanical, electrical and trim (MET) technician (level
3) - Level: 3
- Route:
Engineering and manufacturing - Apprenticeship Level: Advanced
- On-the-job training: 80% of training within a bodyshop with a mentor
- Off-the-job training: through Registered Training Providers or other RTP
- Duration: normally 3 years with competency-based options for early completion
- Starter tooling provided on joining (must remain on site)
- Eligible for the technical apprentice award scheme based on performance
- Working Week: 40 hours, Monday - Friday (times to be confirmed)
- Expected Duration: 2 years 8 months
- Training Provider: REMIT GROUP LIMITED
