Job Title: Career and Technical Education Teacher – Cosmetology
Retirees of the Texas Teachers Retirement System may apply. Consistent with district policy SD-7.17 “Employment of Retirees,” selected applicants are responsible for reimbursing the district, through payroll deduction, for the current rate of all TRS pension or TRS Care surcharges. As of September 1, 2025, the TRS pension surcharge rate is 16.5% and the TRS Care surcharge is $535/month.

Primary
Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Cosmetology course is to train students in technical and soft skills, and work habits necessary to obtain licensure and for competency as an entry-level Cosmetologist.
- High School Diploma from an accredited high school, or hold GED equivalent.
- Five years full-time, wage‑earning experience within the past ten years in the cosmetology field. Experience as an esthetician, nail technician, or colorist preferred.
- Hold a valid Cosmetology Operator license issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
- Thirty semester hours from an accredited college, university, or technical school may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis with a maximum substitution of four years.
- Windham School District must be able to issue a statement of qualification verifying work experience.
- This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge of computers.
- Identify fundamental concepts related to skill required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
- Demonstrate advanced techniques related to hair design
- Practice basic competencies related to the artistry of hair design
- Utilize correct terminology related to hair design
