Community Outreach Liaison (COL)
Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet (GAfSP) was founded in January 2005 to provide pet‑care solutions for deploying service members and veterans. We operate three programs: the Pet Foster Home program (coverage all 50 states and all branches of service), the MVP Sanctuary – TX (currently in development), and Warriors’ Angels – TX (focused on training service dogs for veterans with PTSD).
As a virtual volunteer liaison, the COL works with local communities and surrounding areas to represent GAfSP. The role primarily involves outreach to media and community events and coordinating volunteer support.
Key Responsibilities Communications Outreach- Represent GAfSP at the state level or in specific areas with military and non‑military media contacts.
- Educate civilian and military communities about GAfSP’s mission, programs, and operations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local media and military public affairs offices or recruiter locations to promote the organization.
- Contribute to the organization’s newsletter and blog as appropriate.
- Identify, contact, and maintain a list of potential events within the state where an Information Table could be set up.
- Coordinate with organizations or businesses hosting events to facilitate GAfSP’s participation, including handling event host requirements and approvals.
- Recruit local volunteers to assist at event Information Tables.
- Collaborate with the National Marketing & Communications Director to promote GAfSP’s event presence.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of GAfSP’s mission and policies.
- Monitor the official assigned email account daily and maintain timely open communication with the National Marketing Director.
- Respond promptly to requests from the National Marketing Director.
- Prepare and submit the monthly Volunteer Service Hours report to the National Office by the 5th of the month following the reporting period.
- Passion for supporting military service members, veterans, and their pets, and ability to collaborate with like‑minded individuals.
- Professional, organized, reliable, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adherence to GAfSP’s mission, purpose, operating procedures, and organizational guidelines.
- Preferred experience in public relations or as a military public affairs officer.
- Comfortable using MS Office Pro (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent software and communicating via internet, phone, and email.
- Commitment to at least one year in this volunteer position.
- Average of 25–30 hours per month.
