Intent of the process
The purpose of this inventory is to staff casual positions in various sectors of the department and various group and level. Casual employment is a temporary employment of 90 working days or less, in a calendar year, to meet needs arising from such contingencies as vacations, sick and training leaves, to conduct special projects that are anticipated but dependent of the availability of funds, etc.

Casual workers are hired for specified periods that may not exceed 90 working days in one calendar year, in a department or in an agency to which the Public Service Commission (PSC) has exclusive authority to make appointments. The period of casual employment may be for one or more than one term, but is not to exceed 90 working days in a department or agency in a calendar year.
() As of January 13th, 2025, Canadian citizenship is a requisite for obtaining Secret security clearance at Global Affairs Canada. Permanent residents are welcome to participate in this staffing process. However, since Secret security clearance is a condition of employment for this(ese) position(s), they will not be eligible for appointment unless they become Canadian citizens.
