Position Scope
Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic with large earthworks construction and mining project experience.
Benefits2‑week on / 2‑week off or 3‑week on / 3‑week off rotations; 12‑hour days;
Competitive hourly rates with overtime pay (1.5x);
Fly in and fly out;
Travel and accommodation provided.
- Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety, and uptime of heavy mobile equipment critical to mine operations.
- Work within the contract presented to the client.
- Mentor apprentices and support employee development and training.
- Attend weekly safety meetings and provide a safe work environment.
- Daily documentation and correspondence between client and company on equipment performance as described in the applicable contract.
- Ensure QA/QC forms and red‑line drawing packages are completed properly and submitted in a timely manner.
- Ensure work orders are filled out properly with quality information.
- Follow standard safety operating procedures.
- Prioritize and schedule repairs in collaboration with operations and site supervisors.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
- Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment.
- Maintain maintenance reports and documentation.
- Incorporate HS&E concepts into work activities and demonstrate concern for others’ health and safety (co‑workers, clients, and subcontractors).
- Post‑secondary qualification in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.
- Minimum 2 plus years of experience working on large industrial heavy equipment used in the mining and earthworks industry.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Robust diagnostic and mechanical skills in hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, and undercarriage components.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and interpret diagnostic codes.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Eligible to work and reside in Canada.
