Blaster’s Helper at Skeena Gold

Sustain safe blasting operations as a Blaster’s Helper with Skeena Gold + Silver in the Eskay Creek mine. Be pivotal in explosives handling and site preparation in a remote setting.

This site-based role reports to the Supervisor, Drill & Blast, focusing on all aspects of blasting activities, from loading blast holes to conducting tie-ins. The Blaster’s Helper must ensure compliance with health and safety laws while effectively managing the critical handling of explosives, requiring both diligence and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute blasting activities following safety procedures

• Load and verify blast holes per approved designs

• Utilize initiation systems for blasting pattern tie-ins

• Safely manage explosives during site operations

• Attend safety meetings and complete Job Hazard Analyses

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and clean record

• 3 years’ experience in open-pit mining

• Knowledge of blasting standards and regulations

• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement

• Ability to work in rugged conditions and on rotations
