PAY SCALE: $22.00 - $31.00 per hour, based on experience
CIVIL SERVICE TITLE(S): Office Account Clerk (Competitive)
Job DescriptionThe Purchasing Specialist is responsible for buying for the BOCES 2 CTE department and the CWD. This will require obtaining quotes, seeking competition when required, following up on status of deliveries, working with vendors and customers, and processing requisitions after the buying process is complete.
Typical Duties- Responsible for preparing and writing specifications for quotes when necessary.
- Assist the Purchasing Department with preparing and writing specifications for sealed bids when necessary.
- Responsible for keeping track of department blanket order spend.
- Track outstanding Purchase Orders (POs), follow up with vendors to determine status and expedite when needed.
- Manage Blanket POs.
- Change notices.
- Responsible for working with vendors and customers to receive products and services in a timely manner.
- Responsible for processing requisitions.
- Responsible for processing invoices.
- Centralized receiving.
- Other assigned related work as necessary.
- Train teachers on process and timelines.
- Manage relationship with uniform vendors and other ongoing contracts.
- Be cross trained and current on roles, responsibilities, and processes to provide coverage for the Office Account Clerk as necessary.
Must possess or meet requirements for Civil Service title of Office Account Clerk (Competitive).
Office Account Clerk: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER: (A) Successful completion of twenty-four (24) semester credit hours, including six (6) semester credit hours in Accounting from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university; OR, (B) One (1) year of full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the maintenance of financial accounts and records;
OR, (C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
Experience: A minimum of two years' experience in purchasing supplies, equipment, and services. Quality organizational skills, effective communication skills, precision in balancing budgets and maintaining good files. The ability to build good relationships with customers and vendors. Experience with the New York State General Municipal Law as it relates to purchasing is preferred.
