ResponsibilitiesThe Engineer shall provide technical support and service. This may include engineering studies, planning, estimating, designing, equipment replacement or other technical services. Responsible for overseeing Rules and Regulations, Standards and Specifications, Certification Program for the Authority. This position includes field and office duties and requires sound technical knowledge with practical application to specific projects. Communication both verbal and written with a variety of individuals including construction contractors, engineers, regulatory personnel and local government agencies.
Maintains record drawings and project files on all new developments in Jackson County. Establish communication with and educate developers and the general public in the mission of JCUA in a positive and productive manner. Develop and prepare technical reports related to water and wastewater utility infrastructure. May be required to respond to emergency situations after normal work hours.
A college degree is required. A major in Civil or Environmental Engineering is preferred, but other fields of major will be considered based on experience. Registration with the State of Mississippi as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred or ability to obtain professional engineering licensure in State of Mississippi within 2 years of hire. Five (5) or more years experience in municipal public works and public utilities technical operations, maintenance, and administration work desired.

- College degree in Engineering.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience related in engineering field.
- Familiar with the rules and regulations of the EPA and DEQ.
- Familiar with engineering applications of scientific and mathematical models and principles.
- Must be able to perform resident inspections.
- Must be able to perform engineering planning studies and cost estimates.
- Must be able to administer loans, grants, engineering and construction contracts.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to lift and carry light loads.
- Must be insurable on Authority’s auto insurance policy.
- Must maintain a residence which allows a reasonable response time.
