Amsted Automotive Powder Metal Division in Geneva, IL is looking for a Technician (Press Set-Up). This position is responsible for setting up powder metal presses and troubleshooting on machines, tooling and processes in the department on the 1st shift (6:30 am - 3:00 pm).
What You'll Do:
- Set-up machines and adjusts as required including calibrated gauging and chucking equipment.
- Obtain inspection approval upon set-up completion prior to production run.
- Use calibrated precision measuring instruments and blueprints.
- Make minor repairs as needed.
- Monitor SPC functions and assist operators as required.
- Monitor production runs for correct set-up operation and product.
- Know how to set-up and operate all equipment in the department including automated lines.
- Make density checks prior to production runs.
- Run production as an operator if no set-ups are scheduled.
- Perform necessary preventative maintenance on machines as required.
- Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork.
- Seek help if problems arise and ask questions if you don't understand.
- Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
- Use various testing devices, chemicals and material moving equipment according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
- Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
- Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
- Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment and tools.
- Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.
What You Need to Be Successful:
- Education:
High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Must successfully complete the pre-hire math test. - Experience:
A minimum of 4 years previous experience in grinding machine operation or machining in a department/cell/focused factory is required. - Skills & Knowledge:
Forklift operation, tool and die.

Physical Requirements:
- Good speaking, hearing and vision ability
- Excellent manual dexterity
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds occasionally
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, dirt, oil and grease, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable.
- Full-time position. May require some overtime and weekend work.
