Seeking a full-time Pastor/Director of Adult Discipleship
The Pastor/Director of Adult Discipleship provides vision, leadership, and oversight for helping adults grow as fully devoted followers of Jesus. This role leads both the strategy and the staff team responsible for adult discipleship, ensuring a healthy, aligned, and effective ministry that moves people toward spiritual maturity.
As the leader of Adult Discipleship, the Pastor/Director will develop and implement a comprehensive adult discipleship strategy that is aligned with the church’s mission and vision. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities- Leading and developing the adult discipleship team and overseeing all adult discipleship environments including volunteers
- Defining clear next steps for adults at every stage of their faith journey (new believer → mature disciple → disciple-maker)
- Regularly evaluating and refining discipleship environments for effectiveness and alignment
- Leading, developing, and overseeing the adult discipleship staff team
- Setting clear goals, priorities, and expectations for team members
- Providing regular coaching, feedback, and performance development
- Ensuring alignment and clarity across all adult discipleship environments and staff roles
- Managing team rhythms (meetings, planning cycles, communication) for effectiveness and accountability
- Ensuring group life is at the center of all adult discipleship initiatives and programs
- Aligning strategies for recruiting, training, and appreciating group leaders
- Identifying and developing high-capacity volunteer leaders
- Equipping leaders to develop leadership ability and go through the leadership pipeline
- Providing ongoing coaching, encouragement, and spiritual care for staff and leaders
- Partnering with other pastors and ministry leaders to integrate discipleship across all ministries
- Working closely with Next Gen and Care teams to ensure continuity of spiritual formation
- Participating in staff meetings, planning, and church-wide initiatives
- Other responsibilities and tasks as requested
- Abiding personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Commitment to living and serving in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in Scripture for a leader of the church
- Theological alignment with Chapel street Church’s doctrine, mission, and vision
- Passion for discipleship growth and development
- Strong interpersonal and shepherding instincts
- Highly relational and capable of developing strong relationships with staff team and ministry volunteers
- Able to equip and develop staff and volunteer leaders
- Able to create and work within a positive team environment built on innovation, communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Able to maintain high level of confidentiality
- Able to adopt and adhere to Chapel street’s statement of faith, vision, and mission
