A clinically competent, registered professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients. Responsibilities include phone triage, abnormal test result delivery, and care instructions while maintaining ANA standards and providing patient and family education.
Responsibilities- Perform all aspects of patient care using evidence-based practice to optimize safety and reduce errors.
- Follow the six medication rights, administering medications based on patient age and clinical condition.
- State rationale for clinical decisions based on critical thinking.
- Assess, analyze, validate, and integrate data regarding patients’ physical, psychosocial, rehabilitation, safety, learning, spiritual, cultural, age-specific, special risk, and self-care needs.
- Identify patient care needs, problems, and variances, incorporating them into the care plan.
- Identify patient learning needs, abilities, preferences, readiness, support systems, coping mechanisms, and barriers to learning.
- Explain procedures, therapies, and treatments to patient and family; document response to teaching.
- Use appropriate resources to provide education.
- Involve patient/family in the formation of the care plan.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans including nursing, teaching, continuum of care, and discharge planning.
- Adequately assess and reassess pain; utilize appropriate pain-management techniques and educate the patient and family.
- Use results of quality-improvement activities to initiate changes in nursing practice and the healthcare delivery system.
- Participate in shared governance, committee work, and practice/department projects.
- Current experience within the past five years or new nursing graduate within the past two years.
- State licensed registered nurse in the state of employment.
- CPR – Basic Life Support certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- One year experience in a pertinent clinical specialty.
- Proficiency in a second language.
