Job description:
The MTSS Instructional Coach/Tier 1 Support Teacher will focus approximately 75% of their time on providing coaching support to other educators following the principles of adult learning theory. Supported by the guidance of school building principals, the MTSS Instructional Coach/Tier 1 Support Teacher will take the lead with monitoring curriculum, instruction, and assessment to determine the impact on student learning in their area of focus, ELA/Social Studies, Math/Science, or Social Emotional Learning.
The MTSS Instructional Coach/Tier 1 Support Teacher will focus approximately 25% of their time on providing explicit tier 1 instruction to students as determined by formative assessment data.
Responsibilities:
- Work with School Building Admin to determine areas of focus related to the School Comprehensive Education Plan.
- Analyze instructional data to support classroom teachers with making teaching and learning decisions and to set goals.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to set goals and select a tier 1 teaching strategy to try and meet the goal.
- Provide a precise and provisional explanation and model teaching strategies related to the selected goal.
- Model and co-teach the targeted practice rather than the whole lesson.
- Monitor implementation of teaching strategy through the analysis of tier 1 data points.
- Work with District Admin to determine areas of focus related to the District Comprehensive Education Plan.
- Attend and actively participate in the monthly Instructional Coach Meeting.
- Facilitate district and building level professional development sessions.
- Co-plan & co-facilitate weekly grade level meeting.
- Participate as a member of the school-based Instructional Leadership Team.
- Identify and advocate for instructional resources to support equitable teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with other teaching staff to determine appropriate tier 2 & tier 3 instructional support for students.
- Monitor student progress with tiered instruction at all levels.
