Intervent Rad Tech

Position: INTERVENT RAD TECH-2538
Performs technical and interventional radiographic assignments. Exercises complex skill, judgement and knowledge of the principles and methods of radiologic technology. Performs diagnostic radiographic interventional studies as requested. Performs a variety of duties in conjunction with the radiologist to perform radiographic procedures not requiring supervision. Performs radiographic procedures of a highly specialized nature such as angiograms, biopsies and other interventional exams.

Assumes responsibility for quality assurance and patient flow in special procedures as required. Performs infection control according to universal precautions. Special Procedures Technician shall have the ability to provide diagnostic radiographic procedures to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and interventional studies to adult and geriatric patients.

EDUCATION:

Minimum:

* Radiologic Technology program in AMA approved 2 year program or AAS degree in Radiologic Technology.

LICENSE:

Minimum:

* NYS license required.

PROFESSIONAL

CERTIFICATIONS:

Preferred:

* Interventional certification through AART

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

* Completion of 24 month course by a recognized AMA approved school in radiology.

* A broad background in all technical areas of diagnostic radiology.

Preferred:

* One years experience in Interventional Radiology. Experience as a scrub technician.

SKILLS:

Minimum:

* Maintains mandatory CEC - 12 per year.

* Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.

* Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.

* Computer literacy.
