Description:
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families.
The Registered Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode.
The Registered Nurse develops specialized skills in the area of patients admitted for medical conditions.
He/She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions.
The Registered Nurse is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.
The Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment.
The Registered Nurse applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
They assess patient and family needs through active listening and analyzing data obtained through direct observation, assessment, technology, or health team communication.
The nurse creates a developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of the health problems identified.
In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members, they set goals and monitor the patient's progress.
The Registered Nurse adjusts the plan based on patient response or change in condition.
They promote, advocate for, and protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
The nurse encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to accomplish the best possible patient outcome.
They teach others as appropriate and delegate tasks and interventions consistent with individual education, training, and scope of practice.
The Registered Nurse understands their responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies.
They motivate the patient/family by teaching them what is needed to continue care and healing at home.
