Description:
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families.
The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and provides direct care.
Evaluates patient progress and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode.
The Endoscopy RN develops specialized skills in the area of patients admitted for medical conditions.
Provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions.
The Endoscopy RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.
The Endoscopy Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment.
Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
Assesses patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analyzing data from direct observation, technology, or health team communication.
Creates an age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address identified health problems.
In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members, sets goals and monitors the patient's progress.
The RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or change in condition.
Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks consistent with individual education, training, and scope of practice.
Understands the responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies.
Motivates patients and families by teaching them what is needed to continue care and healing at home.
Assesses patient and family learning styles and structures sessions to maximize understanding.
Seeks teachable moments during care delivery to emphasize key information.
Asks questions to evaluate retention of key points in the self-care process.
Provides tools and information to assist the patient's family after discharge.
Documents the education provided and the patient/family response to the education.
Systematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and uses results from quality improvement activities to initiate changes in nursing practice and care delivery.
Engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas for professional development.
Takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skills.
Uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
Nursing practice reflects the importance of making a meaningful connection with the patient and family.
Seeks to develop a helping, trusting, and caring relationship by being present during interactions, listening, communicating, and anticipating patient and family needs.
Strives to understand what is most important to the patient and family, acknowledging that they are the central focus of all care and services.
