Description:
The CNA will ensure resident's activities of daily living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment. This includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, and skin care. Documentation is to be completed per protocol. Maintaining the resident's environment and safety is required as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
This includes answering call lights and alarms promptly, provision of safety mats and low beds, and proper use of restraints under the direction of Nursing. Maintaining cleanliness of the unit, implementing behavior and fall prevention strategies, and monitoring for malfunctioning equipment is also essential. Documentation is to be completed per protocol. Meeting resident's nutritional needs will be required as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
This includes meal delivery, tray preparation, use of adaptive equipment, and feeding. Residents' preferences and choices shall be honored, and documentation is to be completed per protocol. The CNA will ensure that residents' rehabilitative needs are met in accordance with the plan of care and policies. This includes range of motion exercises, ambulation, transfers, and maintaining proper body alignment while using assistive devices.
Documentation must be completed per protocol. It is essential to report resident's rights, refusals, and concerns to Charge or Supervising Nurse in a timely manner following policies and procedures. The CNA must identify and report any changes in residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial status promptly. Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated, and required tasks may involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
