Certified Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for meeting residents' Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) needs as outlined in the individual plan of care. Care must be provided in accordance with established policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment. This includes assistance with hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, skin care, and more. Documentation must be completed per protocol.

The CNA will maintain a safe environment for residents as outlined in the plan of care and based on established policies. This involves prompt response to call lights and alarms, providing safety mats and low beds, and ensuring cleanliness of the unit. The use of restraints must be under the direction of Nursing staff. Attention to behavior and fall prevention, along with the appropriate monitoring of malfunctioning equipment, is essential.

Documentation must be completed per protocol. Residents' nutritional needs will be addressed as outlined in the plan of care. This includes meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment for feeding, and honoring residents' preferences and choices. Documentation must be completed per protocol. The rehabilitative needs of residents will be met as outlined in the plan of care. This includes providing range of motion exercises, assistance with ambulation and transfers, ensuring proper body alignment, and the use of assistive devices.

Documentation must be completed per protocol. Residents' rights, refusals, and concerns must be reported to the Charge Nurse or Supervising Nurse promptly. Changes in residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial status should be identified and reported to the Charge Nurse without delay. Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks may involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
