Registered Professional Nurse – Cardiology & Interventional Radiology
Monday–Friday position. No weekends or holidays.
The Registered Professional Nurse will work across both Cardiology and Interventional Radiology:
- 2 days per week in Cardiology
- Cardiology patient care and related clinical responsibilities
- Treadmill and nuclear stress testing
- Cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia recognition
- Other duties as assigned
- 3 days per week in Interventional Radiology
- Procedural sedation and patient monitoring
- Pre-, intra-, and post-procedure nursing care
- Assistance with interventional radiology procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or advanced degree in a related field.
License/CertificationsLicense Required: Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license.
Certifications Required: BLS and ACLS through the RQI system during clinical orientation.
Additional Certification: Moderate sedation competency required within six months of hire. Coronary Care certification required within six months of hire.
ExperienceMinimum:
- Two years of Registered Professional Nurse (RN) experience.
- At least one year of critical care experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in cardiac assessment and arrhythmia recognition.
- Ability to perform the technical and clinical aspects of the position.
Preferred:
- Experience in Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, ICU, Emergency Department, or Cardiac Rehabilitation.
- Experience with treadmill and/or nuclear stress testing.
- Experience caring for patients undergoing interventional procedures and procedural sedation.
Minimum:
- Moderate sedation competency within six months of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe, quality patient care while working effectively under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and interact with patients, families, physicians, and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Computer literacy and ability to utilize electronic medical records and other clinical information systems.
- Ability to maintain clinical competency through continuing education, in-service programs, departmental competencies, and professional development activities.
- Familiarity with regulatory and accreditation requirements, including Joint Commission standards.
Preferred:
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Meditech or other electronic medical record systems.
Under the supervision of the appropriate department leadership and in accordance with approved policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards, the Registered Professional Nurse provides comprehensive, safe, and quality nursing care to patients receiving Cardiology diagnostic services and Interventional Radiology procedures.
The RN will work in both Cardiology and Interventional Radiology, providing patient assessment, preparation, monitoring, education, intervention, and recovery throughout the continuum of care. The position includes responsibility for procedural sedation, treadmill and nuclear stress testing, cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia recognition, and other clinical duties as assigned.
The RN collaborates closely with cardiologists, radiologists, Cardiology leadership, Interventional Radiology staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to promote patient safety, comfort, and optimal clinical outcomes.
