At our La Plaine site, a Center of Expertise for Synthetic Fragrance & Flavor Ingredients, you will help ensure the safe and compliant management of chemical products across a highly specialized manufacturing environment. The site combines complex manufacturing processes with continuous innovation, making product stewardship and chemical safety essential to enabling safe operations and the successful introduction of new products and technologies.

In this role, you will partner with operations, technical teams, and regional experts to manage product stewardship activities, support regulatory compliance, and strengthen our safety culture. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure HSE approval of new raw materials and suppliers and prepare and maintain workplace safety data sheets for raw materials and intermediate products.
  • Conduct chemical health risk assessments, monitor chemical exposure risks, and prepare and deliver chemical risk training programs for employees.
  • Act as the site advisor for dangerous goods transportation, including internal training, audits, waste classification, support during transportation incidents, and maintenance of the Nomeref database and transportation-related legal documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Swiss and European chemical regulations, including OChim, CLP, REACH, ADR, and dsm-firmenich restricted substance requirements.
  • Provide practical product stewardship and chemical safety support to operations, serve as the site's key contact for product stewardship, chemical safety, and dangerous goods transportation, liaise with authorities and external stakeholders such as SUVA, and support health and safety-related activities across the site.
  • Lead investigations related to chemical product incidents and dangerous goods transportation events, while partnering with the EMEA Industrial Hygiene team to implement and sustain dsm-firmenich standards.

You Bring:
  • Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, with strong expertise in chemical safety and product stewardship.
  • 5–10 years of product stewardship experience within the Flavors & Fragrances, pharmaceutical, chemical, food, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of Swiss and European regulations, including OChim, CLP, REACH, and ADR.
  • Proven experience in chemical health risk assessments, exposure monitoring, incident investigations, and providing technical support to operations, engineering, and site leadership teams.
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of explosive atmospheres (ATEX) would be an asset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset with strong problem-solving, auditing, teamwork, and organizational skills, combined with fluency in English and French.
