Experienced Accountant

The role provides temporary leadership and operational support to the Pension Fund Accounting function, with a primary focus on delivering the year-end closing process and supporting the preparation of the Fund's Financial Statements.

The successful candidate will ensure continuity of accounting operations during a critical reporting period, including oversight of financial reporting, coordination of audit activities, and maintenance of robust internal controls.

• Oversee the year-end closing process and preparation of financial statements (IPSAS).
• Coordinate and act as the main point of contact for external auditors.
• Supervise day-to-day accounting activities and support the team.
• Oversee and monitor investment transactions executed in financial markets.
• Monitor custodian and other service provider activities, including oversight of service delivery and review of key controls and outputs.
• Review accounting outputs, reconciliations, and controls.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls and risk mitigation processes, ensuring the Internal Control System remains up to date and effective.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the team to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

• Valuable experience in an accounting service, preferably general accounting or financial accounting.
• Book-closing, accounting control and analysis, financial reporting and analysis; knowledge of financial markets and related instruments.
• Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• Capability to deliver results under pressure and within tight deadlines.
• Structured and organised approach to work.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to operate autonomously and take ownership.
