The Role

Mercuria is seeking a Settlements Analyst to support its EMEA Physical Trading activity, based in Geneva. This is a critical operational role sitting at the intersection of trading, finance, and counter party management — offering broad exposure to one of the world's leading commodity trading firms.

The Settlements Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all trade-related invoices — both payable and receivable — across a diverse product slate including Crude Oil, Refined Products, Distillates, Fuel Oil, LPG, Dry Bulk, Metals, and other commodities. This encompasses full reconciliation against risk systems, compliance frameworks, and trade documentation, as well as the investigation and resolution of any payment discrepancies or failures.

The role requires close collaboration with internal teams including Operations, Trading, Middle Office, Credit, and Trade Finance, as well as direct engagement with external counter parties.

Technical Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a settlements, accounts payable/receivable, or trade operations role
  • Solid understanding of process-based risk metrics, with a proven ability to identify, escape, and resolve system and process breaks
  • Familiarity with physical commodity trading workflows is a strong advantage
  • Experience with trade and risk management systems; knowledge of Amphora/ICTS is a plus
  • Exposure to system implementation, testing, or infrastructure projects is welcomed.
Non-Technical Qualifications
  • Highly detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable working within structured operational frameworks
  • Strong sense of diligence around payment processing and an instinct for appropriate escalation
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal; additional languages are an asset
  • Able to manage competing priorities and deliver accurately under tight deadlines
  • Collaborative and comfortable operating within a fast-paced, international environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
