ROLE OVERVIEWBalyasny Asset Management is looking for an exceptional Analyst to work on an Oil portfolio team in Switzerland – open to Geneva or Zug. This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge research at a leading hedge fund, offering hands-on experience at the intersection of fundamental investing and data analysis. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to be part of the trajectory and triumph of our oil trading activities
Overview Support an oil trading team through fundamental analysis, quantitative modelling, risk monitoring, and trade execution. The role translates market data and supply-demand balances into actionable views across derivative markets.
Responsibilities Build and maintain oil supply-and-demand balances.
Analyse refinery runs, inventories, vessel movements, arbitrage economics, weather, power demand, and macro drivers.
Develop trade views across cracks, time spreads, geographical spreads, crude spreads, and flat price.
Build and enhance Python, SQL, and Excel models, dashboards, and trading signals.
Monitor P&L, positions, exposures, and daily risk.
Produce concise market commentary and communicate trade ideas clearly.
Requirements Between 5-7 years of experience
Degree in economics, finance, engineering, maths, or a related quantitative discipline.
Relevant experience in oil including fuel oil and crude
Strong understanding of physical oil markets, supply-demand fundamentals, and derivatives.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Excel.
Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and commercial judgement.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
Must be based in Geneva or Zug
