MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Activities Coordinator plays a key role in delivering a holistic boarding experience, ensuring that every student has structured opportunities to discover new passions, engage with others, and develop a strong sense of belonging.
Central to this role is the Activities Programme, the House Competition, and the celebration of boarding life through House Blogs and events. The role requires passion and is highly collaborative and succeeds through teamwork, coordination, and consistency rather than individual delivery.
This is an 80% position.
Duties And ResponsibilitiesRelating to activities programme & student engagement
- Design, coordinate, and oversee a coherent evening and weekend activities programme aligned with the school’s ethos of holistic education.
- Ensure activities provide breadth, discovery, and progression, enabling students to explore new interests and develop emerging passions.
- Track student participation and engagement across Houses to ensure fairness, inclusion, and balance.
- Use tracking data to identify patterns, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in the programme.
- Work with boarding staff to ensure activities are well-planned, purposeful, and consistently delivered.
Relating to house competition
- Lead, coordinate, and oversee the House Competition as a central driver of student engagement and House identity.
- Ensure the competition is fair, transparent, inclusive, and motivating, with clear structures and consistent application across Houses.
- Track participation and points accurately, ensuring credibility and trust in the system.
- Use the House Competition to promote:
Participation over performance;
Teamwork and belonging;
Positive House spirit and healthy competition. - Work closely with Heads of House and boarding staff to embed the House Competition into daily boarding life.
- Ensure the House Competition is visible and celebrated across campus and communications.
Relating to house blogs & community celebration
- Oversee the House Blogs, ensuring regular, high-quality content that reflects boarding life, activities, and House events.
- Support staff in contributing content that celebrates participation, effort, and community moments.
- Ensure blogs are used as a tool for:
Celebrating student engagement;
Strengthening House identity;
Connecting with parents and the wider community. - Coordinate with Marketing/Communications where appropriate to ensure alignment and visibility.
Relating to events & budget oversight
- Organise key annual boarding events (e.g. Welcome Dinner, International Dinners, Christmas Dance, End-of-Year events).
- Coordinate and promote boarding trips, including holiday programmes.
- Guide staff leading activities to ensure accountability for organisation, communication, and risk assessment.
- Manage the Boarding Activities Budget in collaboration with management.
