JOB DESCRIPTION
The Global HIV Coordinator and Technical Adviser is located in the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Branch of the Programme Division and reports directly to the Branch Chief. Working across Programme Division branches, organizational business units and all regions, the post holder provides strategic, technical and managerial leadership for UNFPA's HIV response, advancing UNFPA's strategic approach to HIV prevention and HIV/SRHR integration to operationalize the Strategic Plan and deliver on the organizations ICPD mandate.
The position also supports fundraising to build the portfolio and ensure sustainability. UNFPA is a Lead Cosponsor in the UNAIDS Joint Programme, and the post holder serves as UNFPA's Global HIV Coordinator, discharging the governance, representational and technical coordination responsibilities under the UNAIDS Governance Framework. At a time of significant transition of the Joint Programme under UN80, the post holder acts as the principal bridge between UNFPA and the UNAIDS Secretariat, the Committee of Cosponsoring Organizations (CCO), the Programme Coordinating Board (PCB), and the broader global HIV partnership, including the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The post is stationed in Geneva due to the proximity of key HIV global agencies and missions working closely on the transition.
