Senior Agronomist

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Agronomist to join their team in George, Western Cape . This role is critical for providing expert advice and technical support on crop production, soil health, and sustainable farming practices across diverse agricultural landscapes. You will play a key role in optimizing yields, improving resource efficiency, and advising on best practices to farmers in the region.

• Conduct detailed soil analysis and provide recommendations for fertilization, soil amendments, and crop rotation.
• Develop and implement advanced crop management strategies to maximize yield and quality for various crops.
• Advise growers on pest and disease management, promoting integrated pest management (IPM) techniques.
• Research and introduce new farming technologies and sustainable practices relevant to the local climate and soil types.
• Collaborate with research institutions and agricultural stakeholders to stay abreast of industry advancements.
• Provide training and technical support to farm managers and staff on agronomic best practices.

• Master's degree or PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a closely related field.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience as an Agronomist, with a strong track record in crop management and soil science.
• In-depth knowledge of South African agricultural conditions and common crop types.
• Experience with GIS and remote sensing technologies for agricultural applications is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
