Summary
The DNREC Shoreline and Waterway Management Section Field Operation Branch manages and maintains 62 miles of shoreline and 120 miles of navigable waterways. Operations include beach nourishment, dredging, marine debris removal, hazard mitigation, GIS system management, survey requirements, permit application and review, grant writing and on‑site permit compliance. This field‑based position requires approximately 50% of annual time integrated with field operation crews.
SelectiveRequirements
- Six months of experience using ArcGIS software.
- Conduct field studies, inspections, and compliance evaluations with permits and regulatory requirements; collect, analyze, review, and interpret data.
- Perform statistical analysis of environmental data.
- Conduct technical reviews and make recommendations on permit applications and regulatory submissions.
- Prepare permits, technical reports, and enforcement case documents.
- Respond to technical and regulatory inquiries from state, local, and federal agencies and from the public.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in life, physical, or applied science, or related field.
- Two years of experience analyzing and evaluating scientific data.
- Two years of experience interpreting environmental laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Two years of experience in technical report writing.
