SummaryStatement
This position is responsible for administration and project management of engineering contracts in Sussex County, Delaware. Projects consist of varying complexity civil transportation infrastructure ranging roadways, trail systems, pedestrian facilities, and complex bridge structures. The candidate will be responsible for scheduling, supervision, and staffing of both in-house and consultant inspection staff. The job will require occasional fieldwork dependent upon project needs.
The incumbent may choose to be based out of either our Georgetown or Dover locations.
- Drafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications.
- Reviews permit applications, blueprints and/or designs prepared by others to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Applies the principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems.
- Plans and conducts field studies, surveys, research and development projects, inspections and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state/federal laws and regulations.
- Tests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities.
- Plans and coordinates engineering projects.
- Reviews, analyzes and reports on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance.
- Develops cost estimates for project time and materials.
- Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff.
- Possession of a valid Delaware Professional Engineering License, or a valid Professional Engineering license issued by a proper authority of a state, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia, or a province or territory of Canada.
- Six months experience as a project engineer in one or more of the disciplines:
Civil, Construction, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical, Agricultural, Material Science, and related engineering fields.
- Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through coursework, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; or supervising staff including planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; or supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
