Field Project Engineering Manager

The Field Project Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction on all levels of project execution by providing remote and on‑site project management, technical support, installation, and sales support of various industrial power generation equipment. The role also delivers input to upfront system design and bid submission, and provides project management services for the installation and commissioning of mission critical equipment.

Key responsibilities include leading the preparation of project scope definitions, developing project schedules, tracking deliverables, managing vendor contracts, driving teams to meet commitments, assisting with onsite product operations, and providing technical support for integration of Generac products with third‑party equipment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 10 years of relevant experience in power generation equipment installation and operation
• Willingness to travel 25% to 50% of the time (foreign and domestic)
• Experience with basic project management tools (SOW, Gantt, RASIC, etc.)

• Experience and sound knowledge of power generation products, installations, and applications
• Certification as a Project Management Professional or equivalent training in project management tools
• Experience in Electronics or Electromechanical Technology
• Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP

• Lead the preparation of the project scope definition and objectives (70%)
• Develop overall project schedule, track and perform deliverables, provide consistent updates, manage vendor contracts, and utilize industry best practices (70%)
• Develop technical and commercial solutions to support the sales team; gather field requirements, create diagrams, and provide technical support for product integration (20%)
• Other duties as assigned, including providing design feedback and coordinating with service teams (10%)

• Proficiency in AC/DC circuitry, mechanical design, power generation, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Knowledge of engine maintenance and troubleshooting of diesel & natural gas engines
• Familiarity with serial communications, connected devices, and industrial standards (UL, NEC, ASME, IEC, NEMA, NFPA)
• Understanding of generator controls, protective relays, PLCs, and automation devices
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and independent decision‑making
• Strong teamwork, relationship‑building, and collaboration abilities

Requires standing, walking, and occasional stooping or reaching. May lift up to 25 pounds. Requires hands‑to‑hands manipulation and computer‑based work with frequent using of a voice and hearing. Up to 50% travel and a valid driver’s license are required.
