Organizes and conducts group/ individual activities, games, dances, arts/ crafts, and community trips to develop resident skills and motivate residents in leisure time and social activities. Observing and recording resident progress, developing activity treatment/goal attainment plans and maintaining program records, assists with resident hygiene care. Conducts initial and ongoing activity assessments to ensure activities conform with overall treatment goals. Is a member of the treatment team.

Operates vehicles and assume responsibility for care and safety of residents on outings. Works with community groups, and recreational facilities to schedule and coordinate activities.

• Oversees and instructs clients/patients in a variety of activities such as games, music, athletics, arts and crafts, swimming and exercise programs.
• Plans and organizes trips and special events.
• Observes and records progress, problems and/or incidents.
• Conducts initial and ongoing client/patient assessments and interest surveys.
• Develops, recommends, and implements approved activities treatment or goal attainment plan.
• Participate as a member of the treatment team.
• Performs minor maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating and making mechanical adjustment to activity equipment.
• Requisition s needed supplies.
• May drive van or school bus and/or assume responsibility for the care and safety of patients/clients on trips outside the facility.

• Knowledge of conducting group activities.
• Knowledge of working with persons with disabilities.
• Knowledge of applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of narrative report writing.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

• Pre-employment Drug Testing:
  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.
• Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
• Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment baseline two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.
• All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
• This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
