Our Georgetown, DE team is actively recruiting for a Maintenance Superintendent to manage, either through supervisors or directly supervise, a Maintenance team for a specific part of the plant. This is a 2nd Shift position, Monday through Friday from 3pm to 1am, and Saturdays as needed. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in the planning, organizing and directing in the development of the maintenance work plan; assigns methods and procedures.
- Assists in recommending maintenance and operating procedures for new facilities prior to and during contraction.
- Develops new layout designs for use in installing new equipment/processes, as well as changes to existing.
- Prepares estimates of needed equipment, materials, supplies and labor.
- Supervises the repair of all types of building, mechanical and structural problems.
- Reviews completed work orders; assists in establishing work policies, maintenance and repair standards.
- Develops, maintains and updates as necessary a preventive maintenance program using the technology provided by the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to increase the reliability of the equipment and minimize production line downtime related to equipment failure.
- Identifies chronic maintenance problem areas and recommends courses of action necessary to repair, modify or replace equipment by utilizing machine downtime and machine history data as available from the CMMS to increase machine efficiencies and reduce costs.
- Ensures that the activities of the Maintenance Department adhere to USDA regulations and plant quality control standards by keeping the Maintenance Supervisors and mechanics informed of the proper procedures and monitoring their compliance to maximize the Company's ability to provide high quality products.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, preferred.
- 3-5 years related experience.
- Experience in layout, drafting, project management, ergonomic design, Industrial Engineering, CAD operation and USDA requirements.
Physical Requirements
- In stationary positions or moving for 12 hours on wet, moist, dry, and greasy surfaces such as floors, metal or plastic grading surfaces and catwalks.
- Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting, and grasping with varying repetitions, distances, degrees, angles, and weights.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, up onto equipment and catwalks.
- Must be able to lift and carry weights up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to work in temperatures up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear required safety equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus.
- Must wear FR-rated clothing as required.
- Exposed to air-borne dust and chemicals such as hexane, caustic soda, ethanol, and aluminum chloride.
- Must have the ability to move through the facility and carry required equipment/tools that could weigh up to 50 lbs.
- Responsible for moving throughout the facility and reaching vertical heights of up to 65 feet to perform repairs, PMs and monitor equipment in open and confined spaces.
- Willing and able to work around dust, feathers, animals, and various cleaning chemicals.
