Donor Relations Specialist (Fundraising and Development) About Us

Summary

The Donor Relations Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing engagement and fundraising strategies to enhance and grow revenue from current and prospective donors. This position spends time meeting with people, sharing the work of the mission, asking for specific donations, thanking donors, entering data into donor database and helps coordinate planned giving to meet short and long-term goals for the organization.

The Donor Relations Specialist also provides comprehensive administrative assistance to the Finance Director, with a focus on office and fundraising support, effective database management and reporting, event logistics, donor relations and stewardship efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build rapport and collaborate with the Director of Finance to capture data and achieve generosity goals and outcomes.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of multiple prospective donors; research, identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward private and business donors. Develop strategic funding requests based on short-, intermediate-, and long-term goals of the organization, and personally contact current and prospective donors to maintain donor relations.
  • Process incoming donations. Prepare personal, donor, and gift development activity reports; engage with community and church leaders; maintain call logs; and arrange future appointments, presentations, and donor files in accordance with mission policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a calendar and timeline for annual donor appeals, which includes reporting and tracking data, reconciling monthly statements, preparing financial reports, and preparing grant receipt forms.
  • Oversee all aspects of direct and electronic mail appeals, including drafting letters, tracking donations, and preparing spreadsheets.
  • Call, email, and write letters of support and thanks.
  • Manage stewardship initiatives, including the preparation of thank you letters and acknowledgment letters in accordance with IRS reporting requirements and CLINIC policies.
  • Collaborate with the Communications section on development appeals, donor-related publications, and social media presence.
  • Maintain relationships with outside contractors to renew registrations for national and state appeals and online profiles.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, including providing administrative support for committee meetings and community events, as required.
  • Serve an integral role in CLINIC’s annual Convening event, with a specific emphasis on sponsor ships, exhibitors, and scholarships.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training in Business Management, Liberal Arts, Communications or related field
  • Five (5) years of development experience
  • Familiarity with fundraising activities within a non-profit organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and interest in interacting with current and potential donors
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to travel on occasion, fundraising events, and outreach events
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent time management with an ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities.
  • Expert with Microsoft Office
