Salary Range: $41.10 – $49.75 per hour.
Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) delivers quality care consistent with the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act for Registered Nurses at Sussex Correctional Institution. The RN works in accordance with local practice acts and regulations, delegates and ensures supervision of nursing activities and functions to other competent nursing personnel appropriate to their scope of practice. The RN assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of care delivered and works to ensure a safe environment for patient, staff, and self.
The RN acts as a patient advocate to promote high‑quality health care and serves as a leader at all times to promote best practices within the profession of nursing.
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions and side effects.
- Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patient’s condition.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
- Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patient responses and conditions.
- Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
- Direct or supervise less‑skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
- Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
- Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on health education, disease prevention, and childbirth; develop health improvement programs.
- Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies, and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess a patient’s condition.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the facility.
- Full‑Time Days and Full‑Time/Part‑Time Night shifts – requires at least 3 weeks onsite orientation.
- PRN shifts – requires at least 3 weeks onsite orientation; PRN staff required to work 2 shifts per month.
- Rotating weekends.
- Weekday Day (Mon‑Fri, 3p‑11p): $4.25
- Weekday Evening (Mon‑Fri, 11p‑7:30a): $5.75
- Weekend Day (Sat/Sun, 3p‑11p): $3.50
- Weekend Evening (Sat/Sun, 11p‑7:30a): $4.50
- Weekend Nights: $6.00
- Holiday Pay (New Year’s, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)
