Substitute School Nurse

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Substitute for Sussex Academy. Nurse Substitute Candidates must complete the following steps:
Complete an online application in its entirety at joindelawareschools.org List three (3) professional references with email addresses. Once the substitute application is complete contact  indicating you are interested in being considered for a substitute nurse role for the 2025/2026 school year.

Qualifications:

• Skills to provide health care services in a public school setting.
• Experience and knowledge in first aid, immunizations and health screenings.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal laws.
• Ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
• Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of students, staff and parents in a professional manner.

Certification Requirements:

• License to practice as a registered nurse, issued by the Delaware Board of Nursing or a part of compact state consortium and is in good standing.
• Valid and current certification in CPR and AED use.

Standard Requirements:

• Favorable Criminal Background check, Child Abuse Registry Check and TB test (within last 12 months) are required for the candidate who is offered employment.
