KITCHEN MANAGER - GEORGETOWN - FT SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThe primary focus of this position is to service and prepare the daily meal. This position is responsible for sanitation and safety of the site kitchen and all records required for the meal program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIESThis listing is representative of the duties and responsibilities of the position, but is not to be construed as all inclusive:
- Responsible for the receiving of bulk food to be served by appropriate portion control based on a Heart Healthy Menu approved by the Dietitian. Some cooking and preparation on site is necessary
- Preparation of Congregate and Homebound meals.
- Proper use of safety and sanitation procedures such as temperature monitoring, proper storage of leftover foods, and proper food holding techniques.
- Proper use of hair nets, hand washing, aprons, gloves, and other sanitation techniques.
- Accurate preparation of required records and reports on a daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual basis, including meals served, inventory, and equipment maintenance as required.
- Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of supplies and food ordered and stored.
- Responsible for ordering meals, paper supplies, and other food supplies.
- Responsible for proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of all food service equipment, including doing daily dishes.
- Oversee daily activities of the site food service employees and volunteers.
- Covers the Center in the absence of the Center Director.
- On Fridays only, operates the Café serving Breakfast and Lunch.
-Prepares food according to food safety guidelines.
-Responsible for the Café area and all the equipment.
-Responsible for end-of-the-day cleaning & sanitizing and shutdown of all equipment.
- Familiar with Point-of-Sale system
-Responsible for end-of-day deposit from sales in Cafe. - Contributes to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned or required.

- Center staff
- Outreach worker
Minimum requirements for this position are :
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of cooking experience is required.
- Experience with inventory and ordering preferred.
- Knowledge of proper sanitation and food handling techniques. Serv Safe Certification a plus.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds to move pans and supplies with frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to follow basic cooking rules.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurements, volume, and distance.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
This position reports to the Food Service Manager.
PRIMARY WORKLOCATIONMost duties and functions will be performed in a kitchen environment, although local travel to other CHEER locations is required to support programs and services as required in those locations.
WORK HOURSM-F,6:00 AM - 2:30 PM. Extended work hours are periodically required to support programs and activities. Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
EMPLOYMENT STATUSFull-Time, Non-exempt (40hrs/week)
