The Reading Group has an exciting opportunity for a Controller to join our niche family‑owned holding company. This key position will be responsible for managing the accounting operations of the organization while participating in a wide array of projects to support and promote the financial health of the organization.
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will manage the company’s accounting and financial activities, including but not limited to:
- Ownership of all company accounting records and financial reporting across all holdings.
- Producing accurate and timely financial reporting and metrics, while instilling strong internal controls to ensure the records of the company are highly accurate and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, company accounting practices, and other regulatory requirements.
- Overseeing Treasury responsibilities and ensuring cash controls are followed.
- Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, systems, and reporting capabilities that support the company’s growth objectives.
- Promoting financial stewardship throughout the organization and ensuring accounting policies and procedures are documented and followed.
- Integrating and implementing accounting and financial technical solutions, including assisting with the implementation of new ERP system.
- Hiring, training, developing, and retaining top accounting talent. Directly supervise current Accounting Team.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
Our Controller must have meticulous attention to detail while meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities. A successful candidate must have a track record of continuous improvement with experience in recognizing potential issues, discovering root causes, and implementing solutions. Most importantly, our Controller will be expected to establish, build, and maintain strong collaborative relationships with all groups and identify additional ways the Accounting Team can be of service to our coworkers, customers, and business partners.
The ideal candidate possesses:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
- In‑depth knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting principles.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive professional experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 as an Accounting Manager or Corporate Controller leading and managing accounting teams.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems. Advanced expertise in Microsoft software.

Wages are negotiable within the competitive salary range set by The Reading Group. The ranges have been established based on organization, industry, and national standards. Desired salary expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
