Student Assistant – Dental Clinic
UHC’s Dental Clinic is seeking a Student Assistant to provide administrative and clinical support, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, check‑in and check‑out, cleaning and setting up exam rooms. Student Assistants must be available for at least 15‑20 hours per week.

- Administrative Duties:
- Provides clerical and secretarial support for check‑in and consent process.
- Monitors reception area for patients in distress or long wait times and acts to resolve.
- Schedules appointments accurately and appropriately.
- Assists patients with entering insurance information into the patient portal.
- Provides effective telephone coverage for incoming calls.
- Forwards information, messages, or calls to the appropriate individual.
- Communicates appropriate information to patients regarding their visit (preparation, expected timeframe, date, clinician, parking, etc.).
- Interacts with callers and staff in a helpful and courteous manner.
- Patient Care:
- Documents patient information clearly and accurately.
- Recognizes abnormal findings and urgent problems and seeks appropriate assistance.
- Always ensures patient and staff safety.
- Completes all assignments and procedures in a safe and efficient manner with minimal supervision.
- Respects confidentiality.
Percentage of time devoted: 80% Administrative, 50% Patient Care.
Minimum Qualifications- Current UGA student.
- Health‑related major.
- Prior history of employment or volunteerism in patient care.
- Medical Office Assistant Certification or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
- CPR Certification preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word.
- Demonstrated flexibility, organization and collaboration in a team setting.
- Exhibits exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
Active position including walking, standing, sitting, reaching, typing, bending, talking, listening, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 20 pounds.
