Training Specialist

Full Time Defiance, OH, US

Education

A 2- or 4-year degree in a business-related field normally required. Specialized banking education and Training, Personal Banker, or Banking Center Sales Manager. Training and/or formal adult education training certification preferred.

Experience

A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a Personal Banker or Banking Center Sales Manager position, including proficiency with opening new personal and business deposit accounts and processing consumer loans, required.

  • Excellent interpersonal relations and communicative skills.
  • Technical supervisory skills and sufficient skills to provide guidance in the training of staff.
  • A working knowledge of retail banking policies and procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Visual and auditory skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Role and Responsibilities

Responsible for performing a variety of duties related to: creating, scheduling, and conducting training for all employees; administering various internal employee training and development programs; determining proper training needs for both new and existing employees; evaluating and updating Retail policies and procedures as needed; policy and procedure compliance including Retail procedure manual updates and training manual maintenance; supporting the Retail sales function of the community offices with sales and service coaching and mentoring.

  • Performs a variety of duties related to the Retail training function as follows:
  • Conducts initial training of new Retail employees in all areas, i.e., transaction processing, cash balancing duties, check cashing procedures, security measures, use of teller terminals, product knowledge, new account procedures, cross‑selling services, providing exceptional customer service, consumer loan training, etc. This may include both classroom training, in‑office training, and on‑the‑job mentoring.
  • Develops, maintains, and updates training resources such as the Front‑Line Training Manual, New Accounts Manual, Banking Center Procedures Manual, and other training manuals, videos, and materials; researches and develops new and improved methods for training success.
  • Monitors Universal Bankers’ learning progress and administers various quizzes and tests throughout the training period.
  • Provides for ongoing and remedial training of existing Universal Bankers, Universal Banker Supervisors, and Banking Center Sales Managers as needed.
  • Administers the Universal Banker and Banking Center Sales Manager Certification Programs.
  • Performs a variety of duties relating to automated systems training as follows:
  • Creates “mock” accounts to provide hands on training.
  • Provides ongoing, follow‑up, and refresher training in automated systems used for new account opening, client account maintenance, etc. for customer service personnel.
  • Performs a variety of duties related to the corporate development function as follows:
  • Able to proficiently perform all duties of a Universal Banker II and a Banking Center Sales Manager including transaction processing, new personal and business account processing, and consumer loan processing without assistance.
  • Provides support for the Director of Talent Management
  • Assist retail employees as a Banking Center Mentor. Required to travel to different banking centers as needed. May recommend additional training to management.
  • Identifies and recommends changes to Retail policies and procedures as needed.
  • Keeps the internal intranet up to date
  • Administers the internal training and development programs.
  • Coordinates departmental tasks with coworkers inside and outside the department to ensure an efficient process and the completion of essential tasks needing proper segregation of duties.
  • Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate bank personnel.
