State Product Manager – Personal Lines
Job Summary: The State Product Manager develops multi‑year business strategies for assigned states (Colorado, South Carolina & Arkansas, Connecticut & Rhode Island). The role drives strategic alignment through product launches, pricing, underwriting appetite, distribution, and financial planning. The manager collaborates across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Claims, Actuarial, Underwriting, Technology, and Legal to execute state‑specific strategies and monitor performance against P&L objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and manage strategic plans for assigned states, incorporating top‑line and bottom‑line performance objectives.
- Own strategy and performance for assigned state(s).
- Analyze and review financial results, product profitability, business mix and competitive information and forecast performance.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to execute state‑specific strategies.
- Monitor performance, communicate and influence action to address product, pricing and financial issues.
- Maintain in‑depth knowledge of the personal lines industry, state markets, regulatory environment, and economic trends.
- Develop and maintain formal relationships with state regulatory agencies and trade associations.
- Coordinate and facilitate communication across functions and the state management team.
- Provide high‑level analysis and develop fully‑developed solutions.
- Communicate product, pricing, and organizational decisions verbally and in writing to internal and external partners.
- Lead associate management activities: performance, salary planning, training, workflow, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
- Strong strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
- Track record of generating clear, data‑driven insights.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to influence and align stakeholders.
- Experience managing states to P&L objectives, preferably in Colorado, South Carolina, Arkansas, Connecticut, or Rhode Island.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in insurance, actuarial science, mathematics, risk management, economics, finance, accounting, business administration or related field. Master of Business Administration preferred.
Experience: Eight years in underwriting or product preferred. Cross‑functional experience and data analysis preferred.

Skills:
Detailed knowledge of personal lines insurance products, pricing architecture, state regulations, underwriting procedures. Strong financial and trend analysis skills. Proficiency in analytical tools, relational databases, data visualization, query languages, and statistical software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to drive results, solve problems, and manage competing priorities.
The role reports to the AVP, State Product Manager – Personal Lines or Senior State Product Manager – Personal Lines and may supervise up to two direct reports.
