Job SummaryWe are looking for an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects during the pre-construction and bidding stages.
The Estimator will review plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, obtain subcontractor and supplier pricing, identify potential risks, and support the project through final bid submission.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and hard bid estimates.
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Review scopes and identify gaps, risks, and constructability concerns.
- Identify value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare bid packages, clarifications, alternates, and proposal documents.
- Maintain historical cost data, unit pricing, and estimating databases.
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and estimate reviews.
- Support the transition of awarded projects from estimating to operations.
- 10+ years of commercial construction estimating or pre-construction experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, pricing, and market conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Strong experience with quantity takeoffs and project cost estimating. - Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Experience estimating multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
- Strong subcontractor and supplier pricing experience.
- Experience with value engineering and scope analysis.
- Strong understanding of estimating strategies and project profitability.
