Compensation: $3,179 per Perry Classroom Teachers Association Negotiated Agreement

Job SummaryThe Science Olympiad Advisor is responsible for leading, mentoring, and coordinating the school's Science Olympiad team. This role involves fostering student interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), guiding students in preparation for competitions, and managing all organizational aspects of the team. The advisor plays a key role in developing students’ scientific knowledge, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a science‑related field or education (Master's preferred)
- Teaching certification (preferred, depending on school requirements)
- Strong background in one or more STEM disciplines
- Experience with Science Olympiad or similar academic competitions is highly desirable
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to motivate and mentor high school students
- Recruit and select student participants for the Science Olympiad team
- Organize and supervise regular team meetings, practices, and workshops
- Provide guidance and resources for a wide range of science topics and events
- Coordinate event assignments and ensure balanced team participation
- Prepare students for regional, state, and national Science Olympiad competitions
- Arrange transportation, registration, and logistics for competitions
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school administration to support team activities
- Maintain compliance with competition rules and school policies
- Manage team budget, materials, and equipment
- Encourage a positive, inclusive, and academically focused team environment
- Weekly meetings/practices (typically after school)
- Additional time for competition preparation and travel (including some weekends)
- Passion for STEM education and student development
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
- Team‑oriented mindset with a collaborative approach
- School‑based environment with occasional travel to competitions
- May require extended hours during peak competition season
