Position Overview

The University of Mount Union seeks candidates for the full‑time position of Assistant Director of Graduate Admission.

Responsibilities
  • Travel regularly within the assigned region, including overnight and out‑of‑state travel, and maintain a valid, non‑suspended Ohio driver’s license to operate University vehicles.
  • Establish, build, and manage both new and existing relationships with organizations and community groups related to graduate program offerings.
  • Communicate with prospective students and their families regarding admission, following a structured plan that includes calls, emails, and letters.
  • Participate as an active member of the Office of Admission staff at all recruitment events, including evenings and weekends.
  • Manage travel and program budgets.
  • Ensure the integrity and consistency of recruitment data for assigned territories.
  • Participate in strategic planning for graduate programs.
  • Enhance professional growth through continuing education, seminars, workshops, reading, and networking in the higher‑education community.
  • Lead the development and coordination of special projects as assigned by the Director of Admission.
  • Provide training opportunities for Office of Admission staff on graduate programs and enrollment processes.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a yearly recruitment plan, along with enrollment and marketing plans for all graduate programs.
  • Review admission files with graduate program directors and enter decisions into Slate.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Admission and the Recruitment Communications position to maintain effective communication flows for prospective graduate students.
  • Coordinate significant annual recruitment programs or activities, such as specialized visit events or projects targeting specific constituencies.
  • Participate in University compliance training as communicated by the University, Vice President of Enrollment Management, or Director of Admission.
  • Perform the responsibilities of the Director of Admission in their absence, including attending university meetings, leading Office of Admission staff meetings, and confirming admission decisions.
  • Perform other functionally related duties as assigned.
  • Exercise judgment in providing designated services, consulting regularly with the Director of Admission.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal integrity, honesty, and character while working in a confidential environment.
  • Advance the University resources efficiently and prioritize the management of annual recruitment initiatives within budget guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an admissions office or graduate admissions.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new recruitment territories.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid, non‑suspended driver’s license and eligibility to drive a University vehicle.
Additional Requirements
  • Must complete assigned University compliance training as communicated by the University.
  • Must maintain an understanding of the University’s confidentiality policies and work in a highly confidential environment.
