Scott County High School (040) in Georgetown, Kentucky is seeking a Learning Disabled/Severe/Profound Disabilities Special Education Teacher for the school year (starting July 1, 2025). The position is full‑time and requires a Kentucky teaching license in the appropriate area.
Responsibilities- Plans lessons and selects instructional materials based on curriculum and student needs.
- Uses a variety of instructional techniques to meet diverse student needs.
- Implements instructional programs as established through district and state guidelines.
- Manages time effectively to maximize student instruction.
- Creates and maintains a consistent, conducive learning environment.
- Collaborates with other teachers and participates in school and district professional learning communities.
- Evaluates academic performance and progress of students regularly.
- Communicates student performance and progress to parents and guardians following school and district guidelines.
- Works with all school staff to meet and identify individual student needs.
- Participates in professional development and follows guidelines for student special needs.
- Works with the principal and others to obtain and practice professional growth opportunities.
- Supports student safety during drills and emergencies.
- Maintains updated inventory records of classroom materials and follows guidelines for supplies.
- Supervises students during school and school-sponsored events.
- Administers diagnostic, achievement, and other tests following district and state testing guidelines.
- Plays an active role in developing and implementing curriculum related to standards.
- Inputs, calculates, and maintains all necessary records according to state law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Serves on school committees related to instructional material selection and school improvement.
- Assumes responsibilities for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with others.
- Adheres to the professional code of ethics for certified personnel and all board policies.
- Participates in peer reviews and teacher leadership activities.
- Integrates technology and supplemental materials to support curriculum.
- Performs additional tasks assigned by the principal as needed.
- College diploma.
- Certification from the Kentucky Educational Professional Standards Board in the area(s) to be taught.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Strict adherence to the Kentucky Certified Code of Ethics (704 KAR 20:680).
- Work performed while standing, sitting, or walking.
- Ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, written language, and hearing.
- Use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Ability to lift, carry, push or pull light objects and students up to 25 lbs.
