SUMMARY
The Readiness Coach is responsible for identifying, mentoring, and instructing students to ensure a successful transition from high school to a career or post‑secondary opportunity. This role combines direct student support with the creation of district systems to gather longitudinal data on student success after graduation. The Readiness Coach acts as a liaison between the school, local businesses, and post‑secondary institutions to build career pathways and provide students with professional and educational mentorship.
After graduation, the coach will track the professional and educational outcomes post-graduation to determine success.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This position classification requires expertise in student mentorship, career pathway development, and data accountability. The job requires the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and maintaining data in online management systems. This is a position that performs work involving sitting, standing, and walking, and requires the ability to use technology for fine manipulations. DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists students in finding and maintaining quality employment or enrolling in post‑secondary educational programs upon graduation.
- Builds and maintains district systems to track and analyze student success and documentation requirements regarding student and employer contacts.
- Conduct individual and group meetings with students to determine paths toward college, technical school, the military, or the workforce.
- Guide students through the college application process, including FAFSA completion, scholarship applications, and entrance exam preparation.
- Assist students in developing "soft skills," resumes, and interview techniques.
- Administer and interpret career interest inventories and assessments (e.g., KYOTE, Work Keys) to align student interests with future goals.
- Provide increased accountability by tracking, assessing, and analyzing data to monitor student success after graduation.
- Serve as the school liaison to district offices to develop and evaluate structured Pre‑K‑12 college and career awareness programs.
- Establish and maintain efficient record‑keeping processes to compile reports on student transitions and post‑secondary outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses to organize job shadowing, co‑ops, and internships.
- Organize theme weeks (e.g., Military Careers Week, Application Week), career fairs, and college visits.
- Act as a positive public relations agent by attending local business workshops and engaging parents/families in transition planning.
- Work with teachers to incorporate career/college readiness goals into standard classroom instruction.
