Starting Pay Range: $27.40 - 32.93/hr
OVERVIEW OF POSITIONUnder the direction of the Center Director, supports the daily operations of the early childhood education center. Ensures a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children by supporting staff, implementing curriculum, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Opens and closes the facility as needed; inspects facilities, equipment, and grounds to ensure maintenance in a safe and secure manner.
- Reports issues to the Center Director within 10 minutes, depending on severity.
- Monitors ratios and makes necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
- Performs rest and meal breaks as needed, maintaining role as Early Childhood Educator to comply with ratio requirements.
- Monitors, organizes, and maintains daily classroom documentation—Name/Face Recognition forms, staff-child ratios, break schedules, daily health checks, safety checklists—on a weekly basis to ensure compliance with program standards and readiness for audits.
- Creates inventory and order lists for office, janitorial, kitchen, and program supplies as needed.
- Checks and maintains First Aid kits monthly.
- Provides supervision for instructional, food service, clerical, and custodial employees when the Center Director is away.
- Assists in answering parent questions and investigates/report appropriate actions when conflicts exist.
- Monitors site-level safety, emergency preparedness, and health concerns.
- Reviews and approves incident reports ensuring accuracy and follows reporting procedures.
- Reports staff performance concerns to the Center Director within 10 minutes after identification.
- Supports Center Director during monitoring visits and acts as lead when off-site.
- Performs other assignments that may require expertise, knowledge, or ability.
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Possession of Site Supervisor or Program Director Permit. Minimum of 6 Administrative units and 2 units of Adult Supervision. Completion of at least three semester units in Infant/Toddler Development from an accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a licensed childcare center.
- Must possess and maintain current pediatric (infant/toddler) CPR and first aid certificate.
- Food Handler Certificate required within 60 days if not currently held (training reimbursed).
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, TEAMS).
- Develop knowledge of infant and toddler development, safety issues (reducing SIDS risk).
- Complete California-mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training and Pesticide Safety Training prior to work.
- Ability to interpret and implement regulations of California Department of Education, Funding Terms and Conditions (Title
5), Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing (Title 22), Head Start Performance Standards, and Easterseals policies. - Effective written and oral communication, cooperative with varied groups.
- Positive affect in interactions with children and families.
- Exercise sound judgement, plan, establish and meet timelines.
- Maintain current auto insurance and vehicle registration as required.
- Provide required immunizations and maintain criminal record/fingerprint clearance.
- Pass post-offer physical and TB test.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Carrying/Lifting: occasional/ up to 30 lbs. Standing: occasional/ up to 3 hours per day. Sitting: constant/ up to 8 hours per day. Walking: occasional/ up to 3 hours per day. Repetitive Motion/Activity: keyboard, telephone use, writing. Visual Acuity: ability to view monitor and read. Travel: up to 10% local travel. Environmental Exposure: none.
