Job Overview

On a part-time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member’s primary academic functions include teaching Mathematics and/or Statistics courses to a diverse set of students.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences is committed to excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to improving STEM education through the use of new pedagogical initiatives and cutting edge technologies, and a research based, active learning approach involving new models of instruction.

Essential Functions
  • On a part-time basis, teach Mathematics and/or Statistics courses at the undergraduate level. Teaching is typically done as part of a team led by a faculty Course Coordinator. Most courses are taught in person on the Uptown West campus.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities. These activities include participation in meetings and common tasks when part of a coordinated course team.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics, or a Master’s degree in any discipline and at least 18 credit hours of graduate-level coursework in Mathematics or Statistics.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

If your Master’s degree is not in Mathematics or Statistics, please make sure that your graduate-level coursework in these disciplines is included in your resume.
