Job Summary

Troy Energy has an immediate opening for a Combustion Turbine Specialist located in Luckey, Ohio. This position is a great opportunity for a motivated person who has the attitude and aptitude to forge a career path in a stable industry. Training will be provided by web‑based programs, self‑paced curriculum, and hands‑on experience.

The primary function of the Combustion Turbine Specialist is to support operations and maintenance of a simple cycle dual‑fuel combustion turbine and its associated systems. The individual is responsible for the safe operation and monitoring of turbine generators and associated balance‑of‑plant equipment during start‑up, normal condition, and shutdown of plant equipment.

Job Functions
  • Learn all systems necessary to effectively operate the plant during all conditions under the direction of plant staff.
  • Operate turbine‑generators and auxiliaries, including start-up and shut‑down, and observe and record readings of required indicators for safe operation within prescribed limits.
  • Prepare plant statistical reports and assist in the preparation of operations and maintenance capital budgets, maintaining plant configuration drawings, databases, operation and maintenance procedures as needed.
  • Participate in the station’s safety tagging and record maintenance, ensuring that plant operations follow regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Make recommendations for improvement of plant performance and operational safety relevant to the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Operate plant equipment such as vehicles, cranes, hoists, welding and cutting equipment as required.
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, service, repair, calibrate, and install pneumatic and/or electric control instruments, as well as mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, micro‑processor and electronic equipment associated with the plant.
  • Develop and conduct the plant’s predictive maintenance program; administer and maintain plant maintenance and inventory control; conduct performance evaluations and collect associated data.
  • Assist with the development and administration of training packages for Combustion Turbine Technicians.
  • Perform tests, calibrations and repairs to instrumentation, including all equipment associated with environmental protection and monitoring.
  • Handle related electrical maintenance duties including wiring and disconnection of motors, replacement of thermocouples and fuses.
  • Install, test, remove and replace motors, generators, rotating equipment, rectifiers, batteries, transformers, regulators, reactors, circuit breakers, disconnecting switches, instruments, control relays, communication equipment, lightning arrestors and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance installation and repair on plant equipment, structures and buildings including welding, brazing, flame and arc cutting, and tasks involving compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Use appropriate safety equipment and techniques in the daily performance of all work activities.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, wiring and schematic diagrams, and perform both internal and external switching and tagging for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Update station logs and complete plant documents to requisition necessary parts.
  • Arrange for the transfer and/or receipt of fuel for plant operation as needed.
  • Read, understand and comply with all regulatory procedures and facility safety protocols.
  • Ensure adequate turnover of information between shifts or projects.
  • Maintain high standards of safety.
  • Cooperate and participate as a team member to accomplish plant goals and objectives.
  • Act as a team member with all employees of Troy Energy staff.
  • Comply with all IPSC policies and procedures.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience with electric generating equipment and operations, including the repair and maintenance of turbine generators, is desired but not mandatory.
  • Valid driver’s license and must be insurable by the company’s vehicle insurance carrier.
