The opportunity
Our USGO North - Weaver Area team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Ohio to support the operation and maintenance of natural gas pipelines and associated facilities throughout Mansfield and the surrounding area. We are seeking a skilled Pipeline Mechanical Technician who possesses knowledge and experience of high‑pressure natural gas pipeline systems, turbines, gas measurement facilities, and other related equipment.
Responsibilities- Locate and visually mark subsurface pipeline infrastructure with paint and/or flags.
- Oversee and manage pipeline or utility crossings and encroachments.
- Complete required Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Company documentation.
- Perform pipeline maintenance activities such as leak repair, clearing and inspection of right‑of‑way, and assisting with tie‑ins of mainline valves.
- Perform pipeline locates through the Ohio Utility Protection Services (OUPS) or 811 system.
- Patrol pipeline right‑of‑way and assist with leak surveys.
- Operate company truck.
- Operate compressor engines and support equipment.
- Plan, coordinate, and perform mechanical maintenance activities to include routine corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment and system improvements, and major maintenance projects.
- Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain gas‑fired turbines, standby generator engines, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, low‑pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, large‑bank cooler fans and gear boxes, large diameter valves and operators, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Assist in full or partial gas compressor overhauls, including heads, pistons, rings, liners, pins, bushings, and bearings.
- Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP.
- Complete other tasks as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous energy industry or related experience.
- Knowledge of turbines and standby generators.
- Knowledge of regulators and/or meters.
- Industrial experience in a plant environment.
- Experience locating and marking subsurface pipeline infrastructure.
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Successfully complete a pre‑employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Be subject to call‑out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes.
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
- Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures, heavy lifting (50 pounds), and cramped conditions.
- Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position. Following a conditional offer of employment, the Company will check the motor vehicle records of any job applicant when driving is an essential job function.
- Must live within 40 minutes of Lucas, Ohio.
