Mechanical Construction / Facilities Engineer

Location: Georgetown, Kentucky, United States

Pay Rate: $50–$55 per hour

Employment Type: Contract

Reliance One, Inc. is hiring a Mechanical Construction / Facilities Engineer to support large‑scale industrial construction projects. This role will focus on mechanical building systems, construction coordination, contractor oversight, and commissioning activities within an active manufacturing environment.

Position Overview

This position facilitates mechanical building system startups and commissioning while supporting construction administration, contractor coordination, inspections, and project execution. The role acts as a key liaison between field construction teams and project management to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with specifications and codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate mechanical building system startups and commissioning activities
  • Review product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering drawings, specifications, and RFIs
  • Coordinate factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning, and handover of equipment
  • Coordinate weekend and plant shutdown work with contractors, facilities, and manufacturing teams
  • Conduct continuous work progress inspections
  • Support construction administration activities including scheduling, quality confirmation, and coordination meetings
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes
  • Oversee mechanical contractors to ensure adherence to schedules, milestones, and project delivery methods
  • Prepare field engineering status reports for Project Managers
  • Provide feedback to improve technical specifications and construction standards
  • Implement building construction projects in support of site operations
  • Manage daily construction support activities including RFIs and CCRs
  • Act as liaison between field construction teams and project management
  • Assist with estimates, schedules, materials, and purchase orders as needed
  • Supervise field construction activities
  • Monitor equipment installation methods for compliance with drawings and specifications
Required Qualifications (Must Haves)
  • 5–10+ years of experience in industrial or commercial construction projects
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes and industry standards including IBC, NEC, NESC, NFPA, ASME, AMCA, ARI, AWS, ASHRAE, and FM
  • Proficient in drawing review and field application
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Strong knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA requirements, including Lock–Out/Tag–Out, electrical safe work practices, control of energy, and arc flash safety
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written and verbal formats
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills
  • Experience managing construction schedules on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Experience developing mechanical system design criteria
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and navigate a large industrial manufacturing facility for extended periods
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs to roof and equipment rooms
  • Automotive manufacturing experience (engine, transmission, vehicle facilities, or similar industrial environments)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus)
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with Bluebeam
  • Experience with Microsoft Project
