Toyota’s Battery Production Engineering department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer to join the planning team. This Engineer's main responsibilities are Capital Expenditures (Cap Ex) and Operating Expenditures (OpEx) budget management, coordinating department technical training, and project reflection lead for advanced planning of electric vehicle battery manufacturing.
This position will be located at Toyota’s Production Engineering Manufacturing Center (PEMC) in Georgetown, Kentucky, and report to an Engineering Manager within the Battery Cell Planning group of the Battery Manufacturing Engineering (BME) department.
What you’ll be doing- Summarize project cost discrepancies by investigating description of and justification for expenses to support monthly Cap Ex and OpEx budget executive management summary reports
- Perform routine audits of General Ledger (G/L) accounts and commodity code utilization to ensure organization is conforming to standard set for fiscal year budget. Submit requests for journal entry correction to TMNA A&F to remedy any deviations
- Communicate monthly spending on key G/L accounts to organization for activity planning and securement of necessary funds
- Function as department SME for basic plan, ringi, and requisition package creation. Maintain existing and create new shikumi documentation to visualize standard, best practice processes
- Schedule and conduct individual training sessions for new team members as well as annual refresher training sessions for existing team members on Ariba, SAP, Ringi Database / Ringi Spend Management, and other programs and applications
- Operate as department technical training coordinator including lunch and learn sessions. Collaborate with various technical resource groups such as RJ, SEIBI, Quality, and Maintenance to determine overall need, select best fit courses and programs, and schedule opportunities to facilitate member continued skill development
- Lead recurring, cross-functional department project reflection meetings with all relevant groups during all project phases. Collect and track reflection items in standard document and distribute to organization at set frequency for visibility
- Assist with root cause analysis, countermeasure development, implementation trials, and results monitoring as applicable for project reflection items
- Partner with manufacturing plant-based teams including onsite TMNA PE groups to yokoten activities to applicable components, equipment, processes, and materials
- Coordinate incorporation of project reflection items into cost planning, budget creation, and machine specification project phases in conjunction with Battery Cell Planning team members
- Participate in benchmarking opportunities of other departments / shops / plants within Toyota as well as outside contractors, vendors, manufacturers, and researchers from automotive or other industries. Attend trade shows, conference series, and other relevant events as applicable
